Ok where to start.
So GDM the painter on discord that drew that forgotten god shrine stage, challenged me to make a stage out of one of his paintings.
So he sent me an old painting of his.
This stage (as recommended to me by buffgod) will be in 854x480 widescreen hires resolution and will have very wide zoom, and 7 layers of delta.
It will have lighting effects and ambient forest stuff.
So the first thing I have done is tile the image to make up for the small size and trees that are cropped.
this was the first attempt.

Now the problem with this image firstly, it is not separated by layer. Secondly, the image is far too small.
So after some back and fourth with PhantomD, I have managed to render all the layers I can use and have edited in some work of my own.

It has changed again since this and I will upload images soon

Oh man, I wish I could be able to give you some feedback, but honestly, it looks pretty amazing. Outstanding work Filthy Fredo; I can't wait to see the final result.

Hmmm I would say for depth purposes as I always preach, def go with the 2nd. I can probably help out with some of that Bg

OK some updates. I have increased the layer count and added and re-positioned more trees (cred to phantom).
I increased the stage length and height now so its much much bigger and the zoom is much wider (also cred for the zoom tip).
I decided to go with the 2nd version of the forest since Margatroid suggested that one is better.
I had already half decided on it myself anyway

I still have some fine tuning to take care of on the 4th layer of trees that are annoying me because I don't quite like the lighting or hue.
Also I may separate them more.

I have decided to code name it "Myrkwood". That is the ancient name for the Germanic black forest of legends, which is an actual place that exists anyway so yeah. There are many myths and legends about it.
Next I will be doing the effects on lighting and various other animations to make it liven up more with some ambience.

UPDATE

I recolored the trees that were pissing me off and switched the layers and adjusted the scale

That actually looks really really nice.
I saw this in the discord chat actually and was curious how it was coming along.
