Stage trick : Enhance the ambiance with THE RIGHT TINT 29270914107_0496322bcc_o
Thanks to Exshadow a long time ago, I learnt to apply a tint in a stage to emphasize the ambiance.

A tint is a colored layer that you apply on the stage with " layerno = 1" , and transparency obtained with "Trans = add / addalpha + alpha settings" , to affect the overall color of the screen to make it looks, for example, more orange, to imitate the influence of the sunlight during a sunset, or more blue to imitate the influence of the moonlight if the stage takes place outside during the night.

I use this technic since awhile but i only found out just now how to do it properly.

example -

Here, the stage takes place during the night so i wanted characters to have their overall colors looking more blue, it's particularly visible for characters with white clothes.

No worries. That's the benefits of fucking around with settings while coding and testing.

cant get this to work, is there a default value I can use in order to achieve this or is there strings from each stage to keep in mind?

I tried copy this from one stage to another but my mugen crashed for some reason:
[BG Hue]
type = normal
spriteno = 100, 0
delta = 0, 1
mask = 0
zoomdelta = 0
trans = add
layerno = 1

any advice?

Make sure it's in your .sff file and the spriteno is correct first off, save your changes and properly align it.

If it's a HR stage youe hue/color sprite needs too be 640x480, LR being 320x240. Then align it using half of the width in fighter factory (320,240 etc)

The Delta needs too be 0,0.

Mask can be removed unless it's an indexed .pcx file, in which case you need too add a 0(transparent) color. Usually I'll do a solid color far from the one on use, and create a 1x1px layer of said color.

Try trans=addalpha
Alpha= 256(edit this number too anything lower than 256),256. Again this is if you're indexing, it may still work for hue subtraction in 1.1
