Ok so I have been watching the Newagemugen COmmissions that you guys do, especially Ex Sirius and FIlthy Fredo with the amazing stages and screenpacks, and I have something I was wondering if you guys could remake for me for nostalgia.

This is the first ever Mugen stage I downloaded.
It is called Chinese Dojo, or Jubei's Dojo by Ex Shadow:


I was wondering how possible it would be to have this stage remade for Mugen 1.1 with Zoom and enhanced quality.

I dont want too much crazy stuff added, just a basic remake to keep it true to the original but with all the added bonuses of mugen 1.1 like png image support and zoom.

My budget for this is about 60 USD
My mugen specs are Mugen 1.1
my resolution is
GameWidth = 3840
GameHeight = 2880

this is basically 4k mugen but for playing 640x480 4:3 size mugens in full HD.
So I would like the stage to look good when in this full resolution if that makes sense?

My graphics card is RTX2080 so I can game pretty well and have no issues with speed or graphics or openGL.

Ive been reworking lots of old stages and I could remake this for you no sweat. I use 1280x960 and 3840x2880 so let me ser what i can do.

I think the rules here are that we are supposed to discuss all commissions stuff publicly so that everything is fair, so as agreed, I am happy to do this Commission for you for 60.00 USD which is 3.5 hours of work approximately.

So here is the first hour of work.
First, lets look at the old stage here.
This was Ex Shadow's first stage ever made I believe.
So it was very very bad quality and was in 2007:

And here is my updated version work in progress as you requested.
I am Using a Mugen with 3840x2880 (which is the same as 640x480 but openGL upscale thanks to Fredo and Constantinius3rd who taught me about this):

And here is some preview of it with the zoom added and some basic things like reflection



There's few things I need to fix. I need to fill in some ceiling territory so that superjump can work on the stage and I will fix the way the reflection works on the floor because some of those objects should not reflect.
Then I will add some small animations and some extra little details and then this remake should be all done!

Updates:

- Increased the stage height (more super Jump)
- Added extra details to the ceiling area
- Added a 2nd layer of background sky outside the dojo
- various little tweaks for the camera movement

I could do more, but I think it is best left as it is to not overdo it, and overkill the simpleness.
This is now a nice little collectible stage remake of Ex Shadow's first stage ever.

Ok I will give you some feedback since this is commission and the quality standard should be reflect what is newagemugen standard of quality so here goes:

PROS:
- you increased the stage size and bounds
- you increased the boundhigh for sJump
- You added extra layer of outside area (good idea)
- You improved and remade the artwork
- You added the zoom correctly

CONS:
- not enough separation.
- the stage is too static.
- Stage is only 2 layers.
- No animations

Suggestions
- Add some smoke or flame effect in the incense sticks things
- do something interesting with the rice paper wall thingee. maybe put some action behind it
- Make a better ceiling art.
- Research some world heritage sights to improve the stage design. You can do the research of japan famous temple ceilings or something.

Now I look at it I realise it needs lots more work

1. I already have remade the ceiling (it looks really cool now)
2. I have some animation ideas for the incense sticks
3. I have made the front wall part see through so you can see a Japanese caslte outside (i will use some animation I have off a game for that of some outside japanese castle or something)
4. I will do something about the rest of the room to make it more interesting

Ok guys so mega update based off Fredo's feedback:

- For separation I added background outside
- added japanese art to walls and floor so not static
- Added reflections so not so static
- All of outside area is now animated
- Added smoke to the incense sticks as requested
- Made the rice paper window transparent so can see outside as suggested
- Added ceiling art from real kyoto temple and famous japanese artists as requested
- Added a new better display katana!

Check it out bro, these are the Shoji screen door concepts i came up with.
it has Demonslayer Rengoku and some Jujutsu Kaisen monsters but in traditional style

So I'm thinking, you could add these on the left and right side of stage and use the blackjack method to have the players move behind them on the edge of screen and then it means you can have longer stage and extra zoom, and even a widescreen version, you know?

This is shaping up to be a really cool looking stage

And thanks to you to bro! We have already talked business outside of this thread, but I want to still big up you for the graphics! I have used them well and they were an awesome Idea! so now this is officially a collaboration project! (see main post topic)


Ok, now on to the serious stuff and updates. and there are ALOT so here it goes:


01. Increased all of the stage width for more action and zooming
03. Added sunlight effect that shines through the open ceiling wall areas
07. Added constantinius3rd's Japanese paper door screens on left and right of stage with blackjack method transparency
09. Increased the stage bound high for hyper jumps
10. Added New ceiling Japanese art
11. Increased all of the zoom

I would especially like to thank COnstantinius3rd for the screen art, and also Fredo Sensei who really made me realise how bad the first version was and how much more i could improve and push it, and I will continue to fine tune this till perfection

there's definitely something about newagemugen stages that sets them apart from everything else.
