Hello, it's been a while since I last commissioned something but back again to commission a Legacy Hybrid Cross Tag Battle Screenpack partnering with CancerManXIII. Also, I plan to port this to Ikemen Go when it's more complete.

As for my requirements, what I need, and what the screen pack consists of it would be a a mixture of elements between Noz Legacy and BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle, or I can leave it up to CancerMan for something way more creative and stylish.

Let's see for the character select screen these would be good concepts:
Watch at (0:59) diamond-shaped portraits similar to CVS or Blazblue Central Fiction (Open to Suggestions)

Or go the simple Noz Legacy custom Normal portrait style route  but have what series the characters are from which in my case much easier to work with when making small and big portraits (Open to Suggestions):



For series, we could go this type of concept route:

For the Main Menu Screen, I think I would choose the legacy screen pack over the cross-tag battle but I am open to suggestions

For VS screen Noz Legacy Normal

For Win Screen Noz Legacy Custom:

Also, notice that in the video I have 2 different Big portraits one for the character selection screen and one for the VS  screen I would like this screenpack to do the same.

For Character Slots, it could be the same number as the legacy normal screenpack which has 204 slots or 300

For resolution, I would like this screenpack to go up to 1080p but can downscale to 720p

I would like this screenpack to work on a mid to high-end PC or laptop.

This will be a group-funded project so there is no set budget per se.

I'm down and ready to roll with this.
The journey begins.
So I have a few things on my wishlist and all brainstorming at first but here it goes for a start:

1. Resolution
I think the Native resolution should be 720p like the original Legacy but upscale to 1440p instead of 1080p because 720p x 2 is 1440p and this will mean better quality overall.
Also 1440p mode when run in 2160p looks really clean and correct in openGL mode because it is only a 35% upscale.
It makes little difference but @shadic tell me your thoughts.
My PC is using RTX4080 card so i have alot of Memory to run it no problem.

2. Logo
I want a custom logo design for this liek the usual craxy ones you guys do.
I am open to designs but I want something 100% original and represents the Legacy screenpack and also pays tribute to the original with the colors and stuff.
It would be used in the game and on the menu and have a waiting screen mode too.
@shadic tell me your opinion on this

3.Original Training Stage
I would like it to have an original training stage in a legacy color style or some kind of futuristic theme that is clean and not too busy, but also kind of mid tier flashy with some depth and nice effects that give it a trainign wide open area vibe.
The stage can be either 854x480 or 1280x720 resolution with lots of zoom and high jump for combo training

4. Main menu screen
I am open on this. It should look cool though and futuristic and clean.
@shadic have you got examples on what kind of main menu screen you like?

5. Portraits
I am open on this and I will go with shadic12s decisions as long as there are templates.

6.Select screen
I think the Legacy slot count you mentioned of 200-300 sounds ok.
But you will need a really strong graphics card i think to run a mugen with all the effects we are adding at that high character number

Thats all i can think of for now.
I will add more later after shadic12s feedback

Also, i have no major idea of deadline on this because I know these take a long time.
I would suggest maybe we stagger it into smaller parts and build one at a time ya know.

I will go with your suggestion regarding the logo and whatnot so I agree with you on this part.

Hmm this one is a tough one I am fine with whatever as long as it follows the theme or it could be similar to the legacy main menu but with its own identity.

5. Portraits

I am not picky with the portraits as well as long as it's easy to make.

We could do a 204-character slot similar to how Legacy Normal was but there are going to be a lot of OHMSBY-style characters so we would probably need more slots. One advantage that Ikemen Go has over Mugen is that you can add multiple characters in one slot.

Thats all i can think of for now.

oooh this sounds spicy!

I haven't read this in complete detail but I just skimmed it and sounds epic!

I would just offer you guys one hot tip/idea for when building this, since its quite a huge undertaking to do the whole 9 yards of a screenpack of this swag and my advice is you would wanna split this up into sub-commissions for each part of the mugen system.def/.sff, so you build it piece by piece rather than all at once, if that makes sense? so atleast y'all will have a piece to play with and not a long wait inbetween bits.
Thats one mistake I made with my projects trying to build it all at once and not disperse it in parts, but the end result is all the same i guess! keep it up guys! I will be watching this closely GT KERMIT

I cosign this - i'm happy for you and Metal SK to do the stage sub part.
This would be in my opinion, part 2 of the commission.

Part 1 would of course be the logo.
I was hoping to either get PhantomD on board with the logo,.or exsirius.
Phantomd did the capcom.vs squaresoft logo and also the Astral Heat logo which was fire.
@phantomD if you could offer some feedback on your thoughtd thatd be fire

Hi guys

Sorry for the late response to this topic.
I do remember a year ago there was the discussion about this project and I am excited to see it is all finally coming together as far as being put into motion.
I would be more than happy to work on the screenpack portions of this project.
I am currently finishing 2 other commissions for 2 clients at present but those should be finished in about 2 weeks time.
I will read through what you have all discussed so far and then I will add my input and ask any questions if needed.

Thank you and yes, it was a very fun project to work on,
and yes I recall that there were several changes and updates required due to the portrait requirements.


In regards to your project summary, after reading the requirements, I can see that nothing mentioned should be any problem.
There are quite a few intricate details we will of course need to discuss, and ample planning as far as the select screen requirements go when the time comes, but there are a few things that will need to be done before I can begin planning the main SP portion.

Firstly, I have just a few initial questions to clarify:

RE: Authorizing/Confirming screenpack design requirements

I understand there a several people potentially involved in this project.
As far as the final decision making over design elements etc, who will be the authority on confirming each design element?
Will it be:

A. Shadic12
B.CancerManXIII
C. Both of you will co-sign each element ( meaning 2 votes are required for every design element/project component)
D. In the event that both of you have a separate/alternate requirement for any particular element, you will both sign off your individual parts and they will both be included as optional alternatives within the screenpack


RE: Logo Design

Which of the following is correct:

A. This Screenpack will have an original Logo/Title design and this will be incorporated into the main screenpack menus/design
B. This screenpack will have an original logo/Titile Design but it will not be incorporated into the main screenpack menus/design

So this is actually a good point because we have not discussed the Budget cap on this.

but as a personal preference I definitely do want a very OP logo for this game to make it seem like a true arcade classic.
And because I also want a legacy themed Training stage, I know those 2 parts alone wont be cheap since they are 2 jobs in their own, but they will be part of this project.
As a whole, me and Shadic12 are halving all the costs, in which case it is only fair that we both should have to sign off and agree on any final project components, so in that case I would say "C", except we will negotiate anything first so we don't have to deviate off course too much.

The Logo may be reused in the main menu screen after the title screen and in loading screens between fights, or during the credits screen or possibly other parts of the screenpack i cant think of right now. so yeah, it will be a multipurpse logo design needed.

Regarding the Logo design, I am happy for you @phantomD to mange this initial part of the project as this is more your area of expertise.
I would imagine we will follow the same process as what we did with the designs for Battle Opera toshin sp project with the logo files, and similar to the capcom x square and Astral Heat system which means I will require supplied to me the following upon completion of your portion:

1. Layered Logo PSD in 16bit
1a. All exported brush/style swatches
1b. Asociated color pals for PS plugins
1c. add exports/.sff pre import data for each logo component
1d. any unformatted custom fonts asociated
1e. Anim timings for any anim seq (ill dm you regarding this but I assume you know what i refer to)
2. SVG, .AI, Vector output files in RAW format.
3. Associated AE files and folder layer (if/where anims are applied)

In summary, The logo portion of the project will need to be completed before I can proceed with the screenpack portion as I will need the assets from that to reuse in the actual SP portion.
This will also significantly reduce additional time and cost on the overall project.

I will not discuss anything further regarding this as I will leave this info with you at let you liase with PhantomD regarding this and also let me know if you are doing the stage portion after the logo or after the screenpack.
