Are the last frames where he looks like he grows?

When his forearm moves forward, his elbow could be shorted a pixel or so, looks too pointy
Your light source kinda confuses me Pandas

Using the last gif for reference

the light source seems like its from the top right(in front of him and up top)
yet, his right leg has light on the calf facing us, and the back of his legs have it too
though to be honest the back of his legs having light is passable

Better yet, you tell me where his lightsource is.

lol from a distance the belt looks like his balls are exposed. Looks good, there seems to be some rough edges in his chest area though.

I think you should anti-alias the edges at the top part of the pants (shading wise, not actual image wise). Not the entire thing but a bit at the top

His hood is connected to the shirt/hoodie right? the pixels separating it seem weird to me

Really? I never noticed, I guess I should go review all the previous sprites. Don't worry thoough, I have a few sprites from King and K' coming around. Do you have any more sprite reccomendations I should use then? I've stopped using any more Kim and Jotaro.

Are you talking about the taunt or the one walk sprite? And what's anti aliasing, I've heard it used in Photoshop talk but I really only use paint. I'm willing to open up Photoshop though if it makes the sprite better.

You're talking about the walk for this one right? I'll take a look at it.

In that moment I meant the taunt, but i see it in quite a few of Ryouga's sprites (i looked after i posted the comment). Guess the spriters want his style to be unique? idk

Here's a nice tutorial that explained a lot to me when i was into spriting. It explains anti-aliasing and maybe it'll teach you something else idk

Progress on the walk. I'm debating keeping the top static and work only on the legs, and then once I'm done with the bottom part of the body going back and moving the arm frame by frame.


I'm assuming that most people are getting bored of the walk-talk so since Gen has made me paranoid about how much I'm using Rouga I thought I'd outline the system I have in mind for the char.

Okay, I'm thinking of the combo system working like MvC, but adding certain combos that don't follow that system. So you could input a MvC combo such as
LP-MP-HP-C.HP-Jump-JumpLP-JumpMP-JumpHK
But you would be able to do a more advanced combo that does more damage and opens up more possibilites such as
LP-LK-MK-HP-F.HP-D.HP-JumpLK-JumpMK-JumpMP-JumpHp
Or something like that. But the more advanced combos would be much more useful in comparison to the basic MvC-like combos because the advanced ones, like I said, did more damage and allowed for juggling and the like. There would be a lot of these so it wouldn't be primarily Rouga anims (GEN.).

I'm gonna try to elaborate on the dash system. So, if you press a basic Punch or Kick there will be, well, a punch or a kick. But the distance that has been closed by the dash anim will make the attack more effective. I'm gonna borrow the idea by someone (I forgot who, it was someone at NAM though) to have the kick be an anti-air move. The punch will probably travel farther then, in contrast. I already have a nice K' animation to use as a base for the anti air kick. If one inputs a special during the dash then Apex will perform the special, the only difference being that you'll be closer due to the dash mechanic. Simple enough I guess. I'm unsure whether or not I want Apex to be hit during the blur part.

There will be the basic parry and power up. For a third option I'm tied on it being a counter, speed-up, attack-up, or projectile bounce back. I dunno.

The Specials I have thought of is the anti air grab that Rouga does. Even though its a Rouga move I'm set on using it. The only other special I've thought of is an air special where Apex speeds down and does some sort of kick. Or something like that. I want to have two air specials and 4 ground specials. You'll be able to increase the damage/speed by pressing two buttons at the same time similar to the CvS style and open up more combo possibilites. If anyone has any more ideas for the specials lay them on me.

Hypers. I have no fucking clue honestly. I have bits and pieces of ideas but they're just rough sketches in my mind.

Predator Mode
Okay, so if you're aware of the Apex backstory (look back a few pages, I'm sure as hell not summarizing it again), he goes berserk once he fights for too long. In this state Apex will have increased power and speed, and every other hit will register against health, however will not send him into a hit state. This mode will be activated once the power bar is at max, and then after inputing some button combination another little energy bar like thing will appear at the bottom. It will become full only if you pull of advanced combos. Once full Apex will go full predatorial for a set period of time. Like before, more power and speed. However there will be a Super Hyper move that is only available during this time and will serve as Apex's strongest move. Note, in this state, Apex eyes will start bleeding and I may have to find a way to make it look like blood is dripping from his eyes and have the eyes glow red. Maybe, it looks really cool in my head.

Intro/Winposes
Custom Intro's. Lemme see. If Gen still wants to I think it'd be cool to have a custom intro against Krimson. I would like to have a little custom intro/winpose against Bluestreak but I'm kinda nervous about asking two giants like Jesuszilla and Diepod to let me do it. Last intro, against Yuri Sakazaki. I'm about to get a bit personal lol. I think Yuri Sakazaki is cool and sexy af. Don't judge me. I may have Apex make a statement like "Can I get your number", or "Damn gurl". Something like that... Don't judge me.


Thoughts, Ideas, Opinions Anyone? I'm open to anything.

(Predator mode ideas) well, you could probably set it up like A.B.A's Blood Transfusion/Blood pack mode for example, he goes into predator mode and the only way to get him out of it is to get a set number of knock downs. as far as penalties go instead of losing health every other hit, i think he should lose health/strength/speed based on how many knock downs he's had, like first knock down he takes 25% more damage, second he takes 50%, third he takes 75% and fourth he reverts to normal. it could also effect his juggling ability, like take off 2 hits from his juggle every time he gets knocked down, say if can do 8 hits without supers or anything after the first knock down it drops to 6 after that 4 you get the idea....right?.

(predator mode win poses/intros) if you win while in pred mode, he could let out a big scream while clenching his face then run towards the fallen opponents face, grab THEIR face and repeatedly slam it into the ground (see iori's command grab it might be O.iori cant remember) about 7 times then kick em off screen. 2. get on top of them and repeatedly punch them in the face(think Bryan Fury from tekken) 3. (yuri exclusive) starts off the same as the last but as he's about to hit her he stops and reverts,(still has blood on the cheek though and his fist is shaking) his eyes go back to white (then his fist stops shaking) and he dashes off, or moon jumps *shrug*. dunno much about blue streak so..yeah. last one. he looks at his opponent then looks up at the sky (see Shiki from samsho's idle stance) and lets out a single bloody tear then a deep breath (you can rip the sound from here )


(special's and what-not) anti-air ground super, like an arm grab that can either slam you into the ground (like vice) if you hold the punch button or pull you into the air (like nero from dmc4) by not holding the punch button, which you could follow up with an air combo....thats about it for now.
